12 Steps to Poker Heaven Episode 3 Part 2

Many players when they first start to play poker think it’s all about bluffing, but it’s not that simple. Knowing when to bluff if a skill that takes time to master and isn’t as easy as just shoving in your chips to scare another player off a pot.

We see successful examples when Paul Sandells, scares a player off AK when the board comes down all low cards and a failed bluff when a player calls with bottom pair, simply because of the tells you can pick up when a player is bluffing.

Step 7: Reading Players. The skill of putting your opponent on a hand and sniffing out weakness. You need to watch how your opponent plays, spot betting patterns (very important in online poker) and looks for any physical tells.

Step 8: Heads Up. What to do when you get down to the last 2 in a tournament and the game turns into full blown psychological warfare. In heads up the value of your starting hand changes, the more aggressive player usually wins and it’s much more about bluffing as both players will usually miss the flop.
